About Knowsley
Knowsley is a large village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside, England. It is located approximately 11 km north-east of the city of Liverpool. Knowsley is best known for Knowsley Hall, the ancestral home of the Stanley family, the Earls of Derby, and Knowsley Safari Park, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the North West of England. The village of Knowsley has a long and rich history, dating back to the 12th century. It was originally a hunting lodge for the Lathom family, but it was developed into a large country house by the Stanley's in the 17th and 18th centuries. Knowsley Hall is surrounded by 2,500 acres of parkland, which includes the Knowsley Safari Park.
